Clean Your Gutters after a Hail Storm

A hail or large wind storm just swept through the neighborhood and you find yourself raking up all the debris from the storm and filling up the garbage cans–but don’t forget to clean out those gutters too!

Debris can clog any downspout quickly and cause damage to your roof, fascia, or soffits. Making sure water flows freely through your gutter system helps prevent water from backing up and causing leaks or undermining the integrity of your roofing system. A word of caution: make sure to use ladder safety when cleaning gutters and consider hiring a professional if your gutters are difficult to reach or if you feel unsafe on a ladder.

Cleaning out gutters on a regular basis, and especially after a storm, can increase the life of your roof.
